Open Internet Policy

Our commitment to a free and open internet. Explains how SecureNet handles network management, speeds, and data transparency.

SecureNet Open Internet Policy

Effective Date / Updated: July 1, 2025

  1. Introduction

SecureNet (“SecureNet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides fiber-to-the-home and fiber broadband Internet access services (“Services”) to residential and business subscribers. Because our network is built on 100% fiber, we are able to provide consistent, high-capacity, low-latency connections with minimal need for traffic management.

This Open Internet Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy. In case of conflict, this policy governs for matters related to network openness.

  1. Principles of Open Internet Access

We adhere to the following commitments for all subscribers:

  • No Blocking — We do not block lawful content, applications, or services.
  • No Throttling — We do not degrade or slow lawful traffic on the basis of content, application, or device.
  • No Paid Prioritization — We do not accept payment or other consideration to favor some traffic over others.
  • Device Choice — Subscribers may connect lawful, non-harmful devices of their choosing to the fiber network.
  • Transparency — We clearly disclose network performance, terms, and fees so subscribers know what to expect.
  1. Network Management Practices

Because SecureNet operates an all-fiber network, our capacity is significantly higher than legacy DSL, cable, or wireless systems. We use minimal network management practices, but we reserve the right to act when necessary to:

  • Address Congestion — In the rare event of fiber node or backbone congestion, we may temporarily manage traffic flows to protect real-time applications (e.g., VoIP, telehealth, video conferencing).
  • Maintain Security — We monitor for malicious traffic such as denial-of-service attacks, malware, or compromised devices and may block or filter harmful traffic.
  • Protect Network Integrity — Devices or applications that cause harm to the fiber network may be restricted.

Our practices are application-agnostic and applied equally to all traffic classes unless required for security or emergency response.

  1. Performance Characteristics
  • Speed & Capacity — Fiber delivers symmetrical upload and download speeds as advertised in your service plan. Speeds are provided on a “best effort” basis and may vary due to external factors such as in-home Wi-Fi performance, subscriber equipment, or conditions on the broader Internet.
  • Latency — Fiber connections typically provide very low latency, suitable for gaming, streaming, VoIP, and real-time applications.
  • Specialized Services — If we provide managed services (such as voice or enterprise circuits) over the same fiber facilities, these services are engineered to avoid degrading standard broadband performance.
  1. Commercial Terms
  • Pricing & Fees — Our rates, installation charges, equipment rental fees, early termination fees, and other costs are published on SecureNetFiber.com or disclosed in your service agreement.
  • No Data Caps — Our residential fiber services do not include arbitrary data caps.
  • Equipment — Subscribers may use SecureNet-provided equipment or their own approved devices, provided they do not harm the fiber network.
